JOB
Summary:
This position conducts investigations of suspected criminal activity at the Florence complex location.
JOB DUTIES:
Analyzes charges, complaints, and allegations to establish the accuracy and authenticity of the facts and evidence
Examines records and verifies information to determine support of charges, complaints, and allegations
Collects, documents, and analyzes information to identify gang activities and criminal trends
Compiles investigative findings and presents findings in reports
Interviews, observes, questions, and interrogates suspects, witnesses, and investigative leads
Serves as crime scene technician; collects, measures, diagrams, and processes evidence
Performs undercover assignments that include maintaining surveillances
Executes searches and arrest warrants
Reports and disseminates findings of criminal activity and safety concerns to superiors, affected persons, or outside law enforcement agencies
Testifies in administrative hearings and criminal trials
Assists and collaborates with outside law enforcement agencies as needed
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):
Requires some travel and possible overnight stays.
An active Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) certification is required within one year of appointment.
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S):
At least one year of work experience in another law enforcement agency conducting criminal investigations. AZPOST full authority peace officer certification through completion of a qualified POST secondary certification course of study through a community college or Arizona law enforcement academy.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent on the selectedapplicant passing a background investigation and drug test .

Positions in this classification participate in the Correctional Officer Retirement Plan (CORP).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
