PHYSICAL PLANT SUPERVISOR II

JOB SUMMARY
These positions are responsible for the unit's maintenance inspections of all buildings, and the development, implementation, and prioritization of maintenance repair assignments delegated to subordinate staff and inmate work crews. Additionally, responsible for the Preventative Maintenance Program for the unit.
JOB DUTIES
Assigns, trains, and evaluates all subordinate staff and inmate work crews
Inspects completed projects to ensure compliance
Performs maintenance repairs, new construction, and preventive maintenance as required
Evaluates, schedules, and plans maintenance related projects to include pricing, material lists, equipment need, and time frames
Completes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure they are in proper working order
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
_Knowledge of_ :
Principles and practices of supervision including employee relations and work scheduling
Building and utility services systems including blueprints, safety practices and codes
All trades, e.g., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building maintenance and preventive maintenance
Budgetary process including estimating costs and ordering of materials
Basic computer skills; Excel and Microsoft Word to create reports, charts, and conduct research

Verbal and written communication
Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
Organization and time management
Scheduling of maintenance repairs
Maintaining a Preventative Maintenance Program
_Ability to:_
Work in a prison environment
Drive on State business
Learn and adhere to Arizona Department of Corrections policy and procedures
SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S)
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
SELECTIVE PREFERENCE(S)
On the job training as a tradesman
One year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Employment is contingent on the selectedapplicant passing a background investigation, drug test , and a medical/physical examination.
