Due to AGS? status as a SBA certified 8\(a\) Alaska Native Corporation \(ANC\), Federal customers can sole\-source contracts of any dollar value to AGS ? allowing federal clients to put AGS expertise to work on critical projects quickly without sacrificing the quality or cost\-effectiveness expected of a large, experienced firm\. As one of several small companies operating in different federal markets, AGS receives support from its parent company, Akima, LLC for common administrative services\. This structure allows AGS to operate as a small business especially in terms of autonomy, customer interaction, and decision making, while receiving support from an organization with more than 40 years of experience, including its people, tools, financial stability, and processes ? enabling AGS to focus on leveraging proven processes to deliver exceptional results\.
The Detention Officer is responsible to ensure the safety and security of detainees in custody, acting in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times, and ensuring a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on\-going execution of their duties\.
+ Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required by the contract
+ Exercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and discipline
+ Receive a thorough briefing from the previous officer to include any pertinent information that would affect the assigned post\.
+ Review past entries in the Post logbook\.
+ Make an official entry in the logbook stating you have accepted the post and assume all responsibilities that go with the post\.
+ Conduct a security and sanitation check of the area upon assuming control of the post
+ Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook
+ Receive all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition
+ You are required to duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons
+ Intermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy
+ Ensure that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery
+ Inspect, maintain, and care for authorized post related equipment
+ Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well\-being of detainees, on a variety of shifts 24 hours a day
+ Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility
+ Provides care, custody and control of detainees at all times
+ Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures
+ Guards detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings
+ Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures
+ Follows company\-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies
+ Perform other duties as assigned
+ Speak, read, write, and understand English
+ Must maintain physical fitness standards and must be able to pass and maintain required physical testing requirements and standards which includes:
+ Must be able to lift heavy object up to 50lbs frequently and up to 70lbs occasionally
+ Must be able to push a wheel chair bound individual weighing up to 300 lbs and helping individual in and out of chair
+ Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, twisting, reaching overhead and climb stairs, ladders and slopes periodically
+ Must be able to pass a medical examination and meet health requirements
+ Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time ? minimum 4 hours
+ Must be at least 21 years of age and a US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U\.S\. for the last five years
+ Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent \(GED\)
+ Must have the ability to pass a criminal background and consumer credit check \(no criminal record\) to obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance
+ Must be able to pass all pre\-employment and random drug tests
+ Must be able to pass a medical examination and meet health requirements
+ Must possess a valid state driver's license or CDL
+ You must possess or ability to obtain a state security guard license \(D\) from the State
+ Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States
One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience demonstrating the following:
+ Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the general public
+ Must be willing to work shift hours to include, evening, nights, weekends and holidays
+ Must attend and pass defensive tactics training
+ Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and are able to compose written and oral reports
+ Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities
+ Ability to maintain poise and self\-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations
+ Ability to concisely and accurately prepare and write narratives of incidents and other written reports
+ Must be able to exercises judgment and use discretion in dealing with first response to any and all situations
+ Must have the ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles; with a cross cultural perspective
+ Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in methods and techniques of securing and controlling detainees by following required training, policy and procedure
+ Must maintain proficiency with any special equipment used for your position
+ Must maintain a professional personal appearance, calm demeanor, and discretion with confidential information
+ Must possess a high degree of integrity, accountability
+ Must adhere to the American Correctional Association and DHS ICE National Detention Standards at all times
Associate or Bachelor level degree in Criminal Justice or related field

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
