Physician (Clinical Director)

This position serves the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Health Service Corps (IHSC). As a Medical Officer (Clinical Director), you will provide direct medical care and supervise the provision of medical care for detainees in ICE custody. You will supervise the Staff Physician (if applicable) and mid-level providers, evaluating patient care through an ongoing quality assurance program that identifies problems and their resolution, providing training and mentoring to health care staff, and to be directly involved with the evaluation and treatment of severely ill and medically complex patients. Duties involve working in concert with both facility staff and consultant specialists in various clinical areas. You will collaborate with the Deputy Assistant Director, Regional Clinical Director and other senior staff on budgetary and programmatic plans. Specific duties include:
Provide specialized medical services to outpatients and provide medical care to inpatients in facilities with a short stay unit; Conduct physical examinations, initial and follow-up assessments for acute and chronic medical conditions; Examine and order appropriate diagnostic testing and provide necessary treatment and/or medications as required; Administer or direct administration of both curative and preventative inoculations; and Provide clinical oversight to ensure proper evaluations and treatments are carried out and documented, medical records are maintained properly, prepare reports, and actively participate in Health Services medical in-service programs. BASIC REQUIREMENT:
You must have graduated with a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of graduation; or A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school which provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Comparability may be demonstrated by permanent schools in the United States. Comparability may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or a fifth pathway certificate for American students who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. You qualify at the GS-15 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level. Examples include:
Serving as a clinical expert in the provision of technical assistance and consultation, and management of clinically oriented staff; Serving as subject matter expert and applying expert knowledge of clinical medicine and current standards of practice; and Supervising Clinical Directors or other supervisory medical healthcare professionals and providing guidance on the clinical oversight of mid-level providers. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

You must possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Your license must be maintained in a permanent, full, and unrestricted status during the term of employment. You must have five years of graduate training or equivalent experience and training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Occupational Medicine, and/or Preventive Medicine leading to board eligibility in that field, with board certification preferred. You must possess and maintain CPR and BLS certification with either the American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers) or American Heart Association (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers). The facility is operational twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This job requires regular and recurring overtime and rotating shift work. You must be available to respond 24/7 to staff. English Language Proficiency:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
